The head coaches and assistants have been named for the 2013 Subway Series which will be held in the second half of November.
Team QMJHL will be headed by Gatineau Olympiques coach Benoit Groulx. DJ Smith (Oshawa Generals) and Dale Hunter (London Knights) will split the role for Team OHL and Brent Sutter of the Red Deer Rebels will coach Team WHL.
Groulx will be assisted on the bench by our very own Dominique Ducharme when the Q team takes on Russia in Gatineau and Sherbrooke on November 18 and 20th respectively. The game in Oshawa on November 21st will be normal for the Gens fans as Smith will be joined on the bench by his coaching staff, Roger Hunt and Paul McFarland. November 25th will see Team OHL take on the Russians in Sudbury for the second Ontario game with Wolves coach Paul Fixter beside Hunter. Ryan McGill of the Kootenay Ice will assist Sutter for coaching Team WHL on November 27 in Red Deer and November 28 in Lethbridge.
Dale Hunter, D.J. Smith and Dom Ducharme were all on the bench together when Canada's U-18 National Team captured the Gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka tournament this past August.
I'll have coverage of the Quebec games at the very least. When the rosters for each team are announced I will post them here.
