QMJHL Subway Series Roster Announced

The Sherbrooke Phoenix and Gatineau Olypiques along with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Canadian Hockey League announced the roster for the 2013 Subway Series. The two Team QMJHL versus Team Russia games will be held on November 18 in Sherbrooke and November 20 in Gatineau. Last week the coaches for each leagues team was announced.  

Just like last year 4 Halifax Mooseheads have been named as part of the team. Unlike last year, the Herd will have a member at each position on the team. Dom Ducharme was named the assistant coach, Zach Fucale is one of 2 goaltenders, second year defenseman MacKenzie Weegar will help protect his goalie while Jonathan Drouin will look to help Team QMJHL score. Congratulations to the four players of your Mooseheads who made the team. 

Other names include; league leading scorer Anthony Mantha of Val-d'Or, Dillon Fournier of Rouyn who is the younger brother of former Moose Stefan, suspended Charles Hudon of Chicoutimi and stellar Saint John goaltender Sebastien Auger who has faced the most shots so far this season. 

Team QMJHL has a 10-7-3 record against the Russian Selects in the ten year event which started in 2003 on November 17 in London, Ontario. November 20 was the first game between the QMJHL and Russia in which the Selects beat the QMJHL all-stars in Halifax 3 to 2. The CHL has been dominte over Russia in this tournament as the CHL teams have a total record of 44-11-4 with 256 goals for and 150 against. Russia is 15-41-3 so far winning only one year in 2010.
