QMJHL Draft

The Halifax Mooseheads added a number of prospects on Saturday as the 2023 QMJHL draft was held in Sherbrooke, QC. A total of twelve players were added to the team's system.

Halifax originally wasn't going to make a selection until late in the third round but Cam Russell and co. made a trade to move up to the 31st pick. The Mooseheads exchanged the 57th and 91st overall picks from 2023 as well as their 2024 2nd round selection to the Rimouski Oceanic for the higher position. With the selection, the team drafted centre Liam Kilfoil from the Salisbury School Knights in New Brunswick.

Here is who Halifax selected today:
RD 2 #31 - C Liam Kilfoil - Salisbury School Knights
RD 4 #67 - LW Alec Nasreddine - Notre Dame Hounds U16 Prep
RD 4 #75 - D Eddy Doyle - Kensington Wild U18 AAA
RD 7 #129 - LW Michael Munroe - Avon School Winged Beavers

The first overall pick went to the Moncton Wildcats and they selected Caleb Desnoyers, who is the younger brother of former Herd captain Elliott Desnoyers. Caleb was projected to be the top pick so it was no surprise when his name was called.

Congratulations to all the young men who were drafted today by the 18 teams and welcome to the new Mooseheads players.
