Halifax leads the best-of-seven series 1-0

HALIFAX, NS - Halifax will look to sweep the home portion of this first round matchup after they beat Saint John by a whomping 11-1 score last night.

Sebastien Auger gave his team a chance after the first period as MacKinnon scored twice to help the Mooseheads take a 2-1 lead into the middle frame. However, the home team was able to score 8 goals in the second period as Marty Frk recorded 5 goals during the game.

Two years ago, the Herd would've been the ones being lit up but junior hockey is funny like that. Your team is only good for a couple years at a time. Jakub Izacky was the active leading scorer for the Dogs during the regular season with the team leader was Jonathan Huberdeau who had 45 points in 30 games. Izacky had 38 in 68 games and is tied for the playoff team lead.

It will be interesting to see how the Sea Dogs respond to last night's blowout. Both Saint John goalies played last night but the team will probably stick with the guy who won 5 team awards; Auger. The Mooseheads top line will be looking to add to their points totals tonight after having 18 points as a unit last night.

Halifax not only out scored SJ by a lot but they also outshot their opponents big time last night. Shots ended 59-19 for the Moose.

NOT PLAYING - Both teams have not announced who will not be playing tonight at the time of me writing this.

NOTES - Ian Saab will most likely be suspended for Game 2.
