Media'Caps: Sea Dogs 1, Mooseheads 11

Here is a collection of recaps from last night's 11-1 win over the Sea Dogs...

My recapDespite being pulled eventually, Saint John goalie Sebastien Auger was a wall during the first period to help his team have a chance against the powerhouse of this year's playoffs.

The Chronicle Herald's recapMarty Frk and the Halifax Mooseheads had their way with the Saint John Sea Dogs at the Metro Centre on Friday night.

TSN.ca's recap: The Halifax Mooseheads finished the regular season 73 points ahead of the Saint John Sea Dogs and they showed why in Game 1 of their first-round matchup.

SaintJohnSeaDogs.com's recapThe Saint John Sea Dogs could not whether the Halifax Mooseheads offense as the Mooseheads took Game 1 of the opening round with a 11-1 decision at the Metro Centre.

HalifaxMooseheads.com's recapMarty Frk had a career night on Friday.

MISSING IN ACTION: Ryan Falkenham (concussion), Liam Alcalde (healthy), Brennan Bailey (healthy) and Brian Lovell (healthy) did not play last night for the home team while Steven Duda (healthy), Jeremy Doucet (healthy) and Connor Donaghey (healthy) did not play for the away team.

AUGER: I can see why Sebastien Auger of the Sea Dogs got 5 team awards last week. He kept his team in the game during the first period but could not hold it down the whole time. He stopped 31 shots before getting pulled at the 31:10 mark of the game.

SAAB: According to the QMJHL website, Saab got a match penalty on his hit on Jonathan Drouin which will result in a automatic one game suspension. So he will not play for SJ tonight.

FIRST GAME: As I mentioned in my series preview, this was the first game between these two teams in the playoffs.

LACKING: The Sea Dogs continue to lack in goals as they only scored one tonight. Saint John had the lowest goals for total at the end of the season amongst playoff team, only scoring 173 times in 68 games. Despite only playing in 30 games before being called up by the Florida Panthers of the NHL, Jonathan Huberdeau still leads the team in scoring with 45 points.

SPORTSCENTRE: Highlights of the game were shown 10 minutes into this morning's SC.

TROPHIES: The Mooseheads were awarded their 3 trophies that they won in a pre-game ceremony. Halifax won the Jean Rougeau Trophy for being Regular Season Champions, the Luc Robitaille Trophy for being the best offensive team, and the Robert Lebel for having the Best GAA for a team.

50/50: Last night's fifty-fifty winner won $17,589
