Media'Caps: Sea Dogs 1, Mooseheads 2

Here is a collection of recaps from last night's 2-1 win over the Saint John Sea Dogs...

My recap: Defense defense defense that is one part of what teams need to win.

The Chronicle Herald's recap: The win didn't come nearly as easily for the Halifax Mooseheads on Saturday.

Metro Halifax's recapThere would be no blowout on this night.

SaintJohnSeaDogs.com's recapThe Saint John Sea Dogs put up a much tougher fight against the Halifax Mooseheads in Saturday night’s Quebec Major Junior Hockey League President Cup playoff action.

MISSING IN ACTION: Ryan Falkenham (concussion), Brian Lovell (healthy), Max Lindsey (healthy) and Brennan Bailey (healthy) did not play for Halifax while Ian Saab (suspension), Steven Duda (healthy) and Brett Malone (healthy) were not in the line up for Saint John.

REVIEW: Both teams had a goal reviewed in the first period with the home team going 0 for 2. Halifax thought that they had scored the first goal of the game but after a lengthy review it was disallowed. The referee ruled it a goal but obviously the people upstairs conclusively decided it wasn't. Saint John had there goal reviewed and it was allowed.

POWER PLAY: All 3 goals were scored during the powerplay, the Mooseheads first goal was scored short handed.

DIFFERENT GAME: The Sea Dogs were better defensively last night as they went into the middle frame leading 1-0 with shots much closer at 10-7 for Halifax.

TOP LINE: The top line of the Mooseheads were held off the scoresheet last night after recording 18 points on Friday night as a line. Just another example of how better defensively the Sea Dogs were in Game 2.

CAMERON: After scoring in Game 1 of the series, Jason Cameron had 2 penalties in the second game recording 4 minutes of penalties.

MACKINNON: Nathan received two roughing penalties, both of which did not seem to actually be warranted a penalty but the refs didn't agree with the home crowd.

50/50: Last night's fifty-fifty winner won $18,141
