WJC: Swiss Get Shutout By Russia

Venue: Air Canada Centre

RECAP - Timo Meier couldn't help Team Switzerland get on the scoreboard once during their match-up with Team Russia on Sunday evening, losing 7-0. It was a bad night for the Swiss who changed their goaltender after the second period and being down 5-0. Switzerland got a lot more offensive zone coverage than the red, white and blue but the Igor Shestyorkin was the difference maker giving his Russian team the confidence to get the shutout win. The goaltender was especially good on a 5 minute penalty kill after Anatoli Golyshev laid out a big hit in the second period. The Swiss player on the receiving end of that hit, Phil Baltisberger was stretchered off after laying face down on the ice for a few minutes. The red and white never seemed to recover emotionally after the hit and couldn't score on the powerplay.
