WJC: Denmark Gets First Junior Victory

Venue: Air Canada Centre

RECAP - What an exciting game! It took 16 tries but Team Denmark has a World Junior Top Division victory under their belt after beating Team Switzerland 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday evening in Montreal. It took some very hard work and another stellar performance by goaltender Georg Sorensen for the Danes to get the victory but it was well worth it. With the win, Denmark has kept themselves alive for a quarter final berth depending on Wednesday's game between the Czech Republic and Russia. Switzerland on the other hand were stone-walled in getting a chance to win Group B when they take on Sweden tomorrow. The Swedes have 3 wins and 9 points and are now 5 points ahead of the Swiss. Despite the loss, it was a good night for Mooseheads player Timo Meier. He had a goal and assist in regulation while also scoring in the shootout to keep his team alive in the penalty shot portion. Nikolaj Ehlers had an assist while scoring Denmark's first SO goal.
