EastLink Centre (3,717) ~ Charlottetown, PEI
Zach Fucale has been gone for a week now and despite the fact that some, including me, thought the Mooseheads would not play so well, Kevin Resop has been proving that he is going to be our next good starting goaltender. Though neither game against the Titan should've been as tight as they were, Resop stood tall in both and gave Halifax the chance to get the win. He'll have to keep that going for the rest of the month, especially tonight when they take on the Charlottetown Islanders on the road. It's the last game for the boys before the holiday break. Halifax will be trying to go into the break 4 gamses above .500 instead of two. With most of the top line gone, the Herd got some secondary scoring last night with even defenceman Cavan Fitzgerald chipping in. Halifax will need a lot of secondary scoring from their normal 3rd and fourth lines to continue their winning ways against a division foe this evening. The match ups between these two are always good and a bit chippy. Can the Moose end their streak of games that have gone to extra time or will we see a 4th straight? Recent matchups between Charlottoetown and Halifax suggests that we should not be seeing a overtime tonight but you never know.
This is the sixth of nine games between these two teams. Halifax has a 4-1-0-0 record against Charlottetown while the Islanders are 1-3-1-0 against the Mooseheads. The last matchup was back on December 5th in Halifax with the Moose taking a 5-0 win on the back of Danny Moynihan's hat trick.
Overall Records
Mooseheads: 17-14-2-1 = 37 points (3rd in Maritimes division, 9th overall)
Islanders: 16-17-1-1 = 34 points (4th in Maritimes division, 14th overall)
