GAMEDAY 2: at Charlottetown

IT'S GAMEDAY
CHARLOTTETOWN ISLANDERS vs. HALIFAX MOOSEHEADS
Puck drops at 7:00pm
EastLink Centre (3,717) ~ Charlottetown, PEI

PREVIEW - We've been here before but they look a lot different. Tonight begins a new era in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island when the newly branded Charlottetown Islanders take on the defending champion Halifax Mooseheads.

Not only did the team get a new name, logo and colors but they also got a new named arena. The Charlottetown Civic Centre is no longer called as such, it is now known as the EastLink Centre. There's also new players just like any other junior hockey team.

Last season, the PEI Rocket lost in a thrilling three overtime Game 6 against the Val-d'Or Foreurs to lose the first round series 4 games to 2. This season, they will look to make it past the first round for the first time since the 2003-04 season. Third year player Anthony Cortese led the Islanders in preseason scoring with 9 points, good enough for 3rd place. In net they will once again be led by Antoine Bibeau, who currently is in Toronto for the Maple Leafs main training camp. The Herd will look to get the offense going against rookie goaltender Eric Brassard tonight.

Halifax will play the Islanders 8 more times after tonight. It's also the first game on Eastlink's Friday Night Hockey schedule for 2013-14 season. Watch a special documentary on Halifax's championship season before the game at 5:30 Atlantic time.
