Players and personnel of the 18 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League have invaded Montreal tonight for the annual QMJHL Golden Puck Awards gala. Five Halifax Mooseheads were nominated once again this season while two were nominated for awards that are awarded at the beginning of the playoffs. Rookie Nikolaj Ehlers leads the herd of Moose players with nominations in Rookie of the Year and Top Professional Prospect while Zach Fucale, Brendan Duke and MacKenzie Weegar were nominated for other player awards. Jonathan Drouin is looking to match history as he is looking to be the first player since Sidney Crosby to be named Most Valuable Player two seasons in a row.
Look back later tonight after the ceremony for a full list of winners hopefully our boys will pull it out. These awards are for the whole league, each team has their own awards ceremony for team awards after their season is done. For the Mooseheads, a date has not been determined as our season isn't done but hopefully it will be in late May.
