Congratulations to former Halifax Moosehead Nathan MacKinnon who has scored his first career playoff goal in the National Hockey League. The rookie scored at 6:20 of the first period to tie the game at ones after another former Q player, Charlie Coyle scored his second playoff goal to give the Minnesota Wild a 1-0 lead. All I got to stay about Nate's goal is it was awesome!
In the second period MacKinnon kept being a big part of the Colorado Avalnche game this year, making two very nice plays to captain Gabriel Landskog who scored twice in the middle frame to make it a 3-1 game after 40 minutes. Both teams would go on to add another goal in the last two minutes of the game for a Game 2 final 4-2 Avalanche. Nate would add an assist to end the night with 4 points.
He is now tied with Paul Statsny for playoff points lead with 7 points through two games and leads both the playoff assists and the plus/minus stats. He is plus-5 through two games.
