It's an off day for most of the teams left in the 2015 World U20 Championships today. The quarterfinals were played yesterday and four more teams were eliminated from medal contention. In a tough tight game that got away from the United States by taking 8 penalties, Russia skated away with a 3-2 win over their rivals. Canada won handily over Denmark at the ACC but ended the game showing true Canadian character by letting the Danes salute the Toronto crowd first before they did it themselves.
Zach Fucale and Timo Meier are still playing. Fucale will get the start for Team Canada against Team Slovakia tomorrow and will try to erase the memory of last year. Meier meanwhile is trying to help his Team Switzerland stay in the top division. They have a 1-0-0-0 record in the best-of-3 relegation round and are playing the second game tonight against Germany.
Here's the schedule for Sunday's semi final games:
SF1 1B Sweden vs. Russia 3B 5:00pm/AT TSN
SF2 1A Canada vs. Slovakia 3A 9:00pm/AT TSN
