TRADE PERIOD: Holiday Trading Brings Changes

I already posted this on my social media accounts but I thought I would do a post summarizing what your Halifax Mooseheads did during the winter trade period.

Normally when the World Juniors end, players go back to their junior teams unless they have been traded. This is the case for 19 year old goaltender Zach Fucale. The Rosemere, Quebec native was traded just days before the World Juniors began to the Quebec Remparts. Fucale might done the Rempart jersey for the first time tomorrow night when they visit the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. He was apart of a 3 player trade back in December. Zach will be joining Matt Murphy on the Quebec bench. Murphy has already played 5 games with the Remparts, scoring a goal and adding 3 assists. Matt now wears 55.

As part of the trade with Quebec, the Mooseheads gained a veteran goalie in Eric Brassard as well as three picks in future drafts. Brassard has a 2-1-0-0 record in 3 games played with the Herd since Christmas break.

Overager Jesse Lussier was traded by the Moose to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Monday. In return the team got a 3rd round pick in the upcomign QMJHL draft. Lussier was averaging 1/2 a point per game, scoring 3 goals and collecting 12 points in 24 games played with Halifax this season. This trade leaves the Mooseheads with an overage spot open.

Well with the trades that they have made it is clear that the Remparts are really pushing to win the Memorial Cup on home ice this year. They added former Mooseheads player Brian Lovell to their roster in a trade with the Sagueneens today. Quebec City now has 3 former natinal champions on their roster.

Good luck to all 4 players with their new teams. Unfortunately, Moose fans won't be seeing the four boys in Mosoe Country again this season.
