Q takes Game 1

In the first game of the 2013 Subway Super Series, which is between Hockey Canada's three junior leagues and select junior age Russian players, Canada came out on top with the biggest help from Halifax Moosehead Jonathan Drouin.

The first three goals were scored by Quebec Major Junior Hockey League players but the score was only 2-1 for Team QMJHL halfway though the game. Both Q goals in the first 24 minutes were scored by Charles Hudon. Russia's only goal in 2 periods was scored by Moncton Wildcats player Ivan Barbashev. Vladimir Tkachev tied it up at two a piece just over the 6 minute mark in the third.

It looked like the first game would be going to a shootout, no overtime games in this series, but with just over four minutes left Anthony Mantha (surprise surprise) gave the Gatineau fans a feeling of happiness to go home. Of course there was no gaurentee that Quebec would skate away victors unless Zach Fucale continued to stay strong and he did. Drouin assisted on three Team QMJHL goals in the game.
