Press Release.
The 18 Pink in the Rink games that were held this past October were a great success. Of course they are always a success as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and it's teams raise money to help raise awareness and fund breast cancer research but with every passing year it gets better. According to Commissioner Gilles Courteau the league raised a record amount this season of $142,041. That's a fantastic amount to go towards research to stop this terrible disease that plagues woman.
The commissioner had this to say; "More than 400 pink jerseys worn by the players and developed by our official supplier, Reebok/CCM, and their partners in this endeavour, SP Apparel, was sold with the proceeds being distributed to local, regional or national organizations dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. I would like to congratulate our teams for their excellent work and thank our great fans for their generosity."
I would also like to congratulate everyone involved. The above amount is the total amount raised by the league, no word on how much the Moose made as a team. I can say that we donated at least $1,250 to the cause.
Currently, the Canadian Hockey League is raising funds for Prostate Cancer research with their MOvember campaign. To make a donation online click here.
