Former Halifax Mooseheads player Jason King has retired from playing hockey.
The Winnipeg Jets announced that he has been hired as the assistant coach of their affiliate St. John's IceCaps. King retired this morning after playing the last two season in the American Hockey League with the IceCaps in his home province.
King played 3 seasons with the Mooseheads between 1999 and 2002. In his rookie season, he recorded only 10 points in 53 games but improved to 89 points (72 games) and 99 points (61 games) in the next two seasons respectively. He was than drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL in 2002 and split his time between the 'Nucks and the Manitoba Moose in the next 2 seasons.
