The Halifax Mooseheads 2013 training camp roster is now down to 27 players. Brennan Bailey, who played 14 games with the team last season, was cut this morning.
According to the team they will keep 24 players on their roster which seems like too many to me, I believe that there is normally 22 players on a team. The reason they are keeping 24 is probably incase players get injured. The Halifax Metro had an article today saying that the Moose are going to cut one forward and two defensemen before they have their final roster, that would bring the roster down to 25. It will be interesting to see if one of the 3 expected cuts will be an overager or if that last cut to get it from 25 to 24 will be the overager. Brent Andrews, Trey Lewis, Brendan Duke and Darcy Ashley are the 20 year olds on the team, and each team can only have 3.
Bailey could play as an overager next season (2014-15) or it is possible for him to get called up at some point this year during the regular season or playoffs. In the 14 games he played last year, he recorded one goal and one assist. It is not specified what team he will play for now.
The Herd continue the preseason tonight at the Forum versus Cape Breton at 7pm. Look at the roster here.
