Wild Game Against Moncton
The Halifax Mooseheads have the second most wins in a single season in franchise history after a wild comeback victory against the Moncton Wildcats on Wednesday night for their 48th win of 2018-19. Halifax controlled the play from the opening face-off but the Wildcats were the ones to get on the board first with Jonathan Aspirot shooting the puck through All Gravel's five-hole. Moncton took a 2-0 lead nine and a half minutes into the match, scoring another between the legs of Alex on their first two shots of the game. That's how the first period would end with the home team down a couple. The Mooseheads came out stronger in the middle frame and Arnaud Durandeau got the guys on the board with his 36th goal of the season 4:21 into the second. A scramble in front of overager Francis Leclerc led to a review to see if Halifax tied the game up and after a few minutes it was ruled a good goal. The Wildcats would retake the lead minutes later on the power play but the Herd weren't going away. Brock McLeod would make it a 3-3 game with 4:54 to go in the period before Benoit-Olivier Groulx gave the home team their first lead of the evening. In the third Gravel had to make some nice saves as the Cats pressured but they couldn't get through the 18-year-old goaltender again. An empty net goal by big BO would seal the deal.
