Axemen Move On

Former Halifax Moosehead captain Travis Randell and the Acadia University Axemen hockey team has booked their ticket to the University Cup which will be played in Saskatoon next week. The Axemen beat the Saint Mary`s Huskies tonight at the Halifax Forum 3-1 to take the best of five AUS final series 3 games to one game.

After five years playing for the Moose, Randell was accepted into Acadia University and joined the men`s hockey team last season and in 28 games with the team he collected a goal and an assist. In a full season this year, Travis had nine points. In 8 games during this year`s playoffs he had 3 goals and an assist to help the Axemen win the Atlantic University Sport championship. 

Congrats to Travis and Acadia on winning the AUS final. 


The Saint Mary`s Huskies have former Moosehead players on their team as well. Stephen MacAulay tied for first in playoff points with five goals and 6 assists in 11 games to help the Huskies reach the final round. MacAulay helped Halifax win the Memorial Cup last season in his fifth and final year. Stephen Gillard also played for the Mooseheads.
