Gravel Solid But Herd Loose to Phoenix

Photo - Phoenix Facebook

Despite another huge solid effort by veteran goaltender Alexis Gravel on Saturday night, the Halifax Mooseheads could not get past the Sherbrooke Phoenix as they went down 4-2. Gravel made 43 saves to keep the game close especially in the second period where Halifax was outshot 20-6. Sherbrooke got their fans to their feet just over the midway point of the opening frame when Nathael Roy scored his 15th at the 11:22 mark. However, the Mooseheads would respond quickly as Marcel Barinka got the away team on the board and tied the game 40 seconds later. The Phoenix would take the lead in the middle frame but even with four power plays it was not until late in the period with Taro Jentzcsh picking up his 9th at even strength with less than 90 seconds remaining. The home team would extend their lead in the third but D'Artagnan Joly would give the Herd some life minutes later. It was too little too late though as Sherbrooke would push the lead to two goals once again as Samuel Poulin scored the insurance goal at the 14:18 mark.
