Alumni to Participate in All-Star Game

The National Hockey League all-star game is coming up this weekend and a couple of former Halifax Mooseheads forwards will be participating.

For the second straight year, Nathan Mackinnon of the Colorado Avalanche was voted the captain of the Central division. This will be his fourth all-star game in his career. MacKinnon is having a pretty good season once again, picking up 30 goals and 72 points in 49 games which leads the Avalanche in scoring. The 24 year old is twenty-six points away from hitting 500 career regular season points and could most likely reach it some time in the next few months.

Third year centre Nico Hischier was named to the Metropolitan division roster a week ago as an injury replacement. Teammate Kyle Palmieri was originally supposed to participate in the festivities but has an injured left foot. Hischier has been a bright spot on a mediocre New Jersey Devils club and is second in team scoring with 29 points. This is his first all-star appearance.

The 2020 NHL All-Star festivities kick off on Thursday and go until Sunday in St. Louis, MO. The actual game will be played on January 25.

Congratulations to both men on being named to the all-star rosters.
