Former Halifax Mooseheads player Randy Gazzola has been named the Atlantic University Sport rookie of the year for the 2014-15 AUS hockey season. The AUS announced the winners for both men's and women's hockey awards today. Gazzola, a native of Thornhold Ontario, played a season for the Moose during the year they won the championship before playing 2 seasons with the Val-d'Or Foreurs. This was his first season playing university hockey. The 6-foot-3 forward plays for the University of Mew Brunswick Varsity Reds and collected 29 points in his rookie season. He also has the conference's second best plus/minus rating at +21. His stars were good enough to also be named to the second and rookie all star teams.

Congratulations to Randy and good luck in the University Cup!
