Herd Word: Ehlers scores at Prospects tournament

EHLERS
Nikolaj Ehlers was in British Columbia over the weekend for a prospects tournament that included the Winnipeg Jets, the Vancouver Canucks, the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames. Ehlers only played in 2 of the three games. He had a goal in a 6-4 loss to the Flames on Friday. Sunday afternoon was a much better game where Nik scored two goals and recorded an assist in a 5-4 shootout win against Edmonton while also receiving a penalty.

LUSSIER
20 year old Jesse Lussier got hurt in the game against the Charlottetown Islanders and as such will have to have surgery on his broken wrist. The surgery will happen today and will be out for 6-8 weeks, it was announced today by the team.

RETURNED
Update: After scoring a goal this past weekend, Matt Murphy has been returned by the Ottawa Senators. This means he will not be attending the Sens main camp. Danny Moynihan has also been reassigned to the Mooseheads by the San Jose Sharks.Hali

MAIN CAMPS
The following current Mooseheads will attend main camps;
Nikolaj Ehlers - Winnipeg Jets from September 19th to 30th
Zach Fucale - Montreal Canadiens starting September 18th
Matt Murphy - Ottawa Senators beginning September 18th

INJURED
It sounds like Halifax has another player who is listed day to day because of injury. Philippe Gadoury did not participate in any of the Montreal Canadiens rookie camp because he did not pass the physical.

HOME OPENING WEEKEND
Hockey will finally be back at the Halifax Metro Centre or should I say Scotiabank Centre this weekend. The Herd will take on the Moncton Wildcats in yet another home opener this Friday at 7pm. The Saint John Sea Dogs will than be visiting Halifax on Saturday evening at 7pm. I will be tweeting during both games.
