Gravel, Lavoie Help Lead Halifax Past Isles

The hot stick of Raphael Lavoie continued on Saturday as he added two more goals for the Herd in their 3-0 shutout win against the Islanders this afternoon on Sportsnet. It started out as a back and forth first period where we saw both teams trade chances and the Islanders had a goal called off as it went in after the whistle was blown. Both teams went into their respective dressing rooms in a scoreless tie after the first period. In the second Raphael Lavoie brought the 9,607 fans in attendance to their feet as he scored a goal that just went over the line past Matthew Welsh five minutes into the middle frame, After the goal, it was all Halifax who controlled the play and frustrations boiled. Charlottetown’s Lukas Cormier took three straight penalties which was a part of a physical 20 minutes. In the third, Lavoie made sure all the fans in the Scotiabank Centre went home happy and with a big win on national television as he scored his 2nd of the game. Jared McIsaac scored into the empty net to give the Mooseheads their 41st win of the season. Veteran Alex Gravel made 24 saves to pick up his third shutout victory.
