Scotiabank Centre (10,595) ~ Halifax, NS
Our Halifax Mooseheads will be shown coast to coast this evening when they host the Charlottetown Islanders on Sportsnet with puck dropping at 4:30pm. The Herd have been dominating teams this week, outscoring their opponents 23-5 in their last three games but they have been against teams who have 38+ less points than Halifax. They’ll be looking to continue that tonight. Charlottetown meanwhile have been sliding a bit lately, with a streak of 1-0-2-0 while only winning 3 of their last 10 matches. This is the first contest for the Mooseheads on national television this season but it won’t be their only one as the season finale will also be shown on Sportsnet. Most teams in the Eastern conference have already clinched their spot in the playoffs and both these teams will want to head into the post-season on highs. Halifax has launched itself into first place in the East going 8-2-0-0 in their last 10, including a victory over the Islanders just 10 days ago at the Scotiabank Centre. It’ll be a good crowd as the club reported 9,000 plus fans will be in attendance so if you are, cheer loud and proud Moose Country and lets show Canada why the Mooseheads have the best fans in the CHL. Go Moose Go.
This is the eighth meeting between these two teams this season. Halifax is 6-1-0-0 against the Islanders while Charlottetown has a 1-5-1-0 record versus the Mooseheads. The last matchup was on back on February 6th in Halifax where the hometown Mooseheads took a 4-1 victory with Joel Bishop leading the team with 2 goals while Alex Gravel made 25 saves in the loss.
