Penalties Almost Kill Mooseheads

Three straight penalties in the second period almost hurt our Halifax Mooseheads who built a 3-0 lead before the Acadie-Bathurst Titan came back to tie the game and force overtime. Justin Barron got the boys going, scoring just 2:21 into the opening frame on the team's second shot. Maxim Trepanier scored more than three minutes later on what was Halifax's third shot. The Mooseheads looked like they would roll over the last place Titan but the two teams settled in and played a back and forth game after that. Benoit-Olivier Groulx scored a nice between the legs goal late in the second period to make it 3-0 despite Acadie-Bathurst outshooting the Herd 19-12 in that middle frame. The away team eventually broke the goose egg with 45 seconds remaining in the second via a power play goal by Noah Delemont after Patty Kyte took back to back delay of game penalties. In the third, Bathurst dominated even more making Cole McLaren work as he stopped 17 of 19 shots in final 20 minutes. Remy Anglehart scored an empty net goal with 12 seconds to go in regulation to force extra time. Halifax had a number of chances in the final moments but couldn't convert. A Jason Horvath drive to the net and Senna Peeters being in the right spot, secured the victory for the Mooseheads.
