Gravel Solid But Fortier Scores SO Winner

Photo - Myles Dennis

A great game by Alex Gravel was not enough to secure our Halifax Mooseheads two points on Thursday night as they were defeated by the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 2-1 in a shootout. Gravel had to make a number of saves right from the puck drop after the away team took control instantly and crowded around the goaltender. It wasn't a very entertaining game as the two clubs went to the dressing rooms for the first intermission in a scoreless tie. Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Nathan Legare scored less than 5 minutes into the middle frame to put Baie-Comeau ahead. Rookie Senna Peeters picked up his 10th of the season at the 11:25 mark to return the game to a tie. Alex kept the game close in the second period as the Mooseheads were outshot 17-4 during the frame. Halifax had a little but more life in the third but neither team could convert and regulation would end with the score 1-1. Overtime would not solve nothing especially since half of the 5 minutes was played 4 on 4 after the Drakkar took a penalty late in the third period. Gabriel Fortier scored in the third round of the shootout, sending the Moose Country faithful home disappointed.
