A controversial goal in the shootout cost the Mooseheads a preseason victory on Saturday night on 'home' ice. Anthony Sorrentino skated in on goal, lost the puck and went back to retrieve it before shooting it past goaltender Ryan Huestis. Most of Halifax fans thought that once Sorrentino had lost the puck, the referees should have called the penalty shot dead and the ensuing goal shouldn't count. The rest of the game was back and forth and pretty physical. Even with mostly rookies in the match, you can tell that there is a rival between the two Nova Scotian teams no matter what time of year it is. Halifax's rookies were quite impressive especially Ilya Putintsev, Arnaud Durandeau and Cooper Jones. Both Jones and Putintsev chipped in with a goal each and Durandeau had 3 helpers.
