Game Day 2: vs. Moncton

PREVIEW - The Halifax Mooseheads will host in their home opener tonight when they welcome the Moncton Wildcats to the Scotiabank Centre. Both teams are coming off wins last night to start the season but the Mooseheads do need to once again figure out how to play a full 60 minute game. Moose Country fans will be able to officially welcome the twelve new faces that are on the roster this evening as there is set to be a pre-game ceremony introducing the 2026-27 team. The overage players stepped up on Friday night and Halifax hopes that they will again against the Wildcats. Moncton, meanwhile, was led by former Herd forward Liam Kilfoil who scored twice in a comeback win. He’ll be looking to improve on the 39 points he had last season and hoping to help the Cats to another very strong year as the club comes into this season as the past two Eastern Conference champions. Even though the away team is predicted to be more in the lower half of the standings and the home team should be in the upper half, games between these two teams are normally close and hard to know who will come out on top. So I expect we’re in for another good game.

This is the first match between these two teams this season. Halifax had a 2-4-0-2 record versus the Wildcats in 2025-26 while Moncton went 6-1-1-0 against the Mooseheads. Their last match was February 16 where Moncton skated to a 7-5 victory over Halifax in the New Brunswick city.
