Halifax Overtakes Rimouski in Standings

The Halifax Mooseheads won their fourth straight game and overtook Rimouski in the standings with a 6-2 victory over the Oceanic on Friday night. Rimouski started off strong but Mathis Rousseau was up to the test once again helping the Herd to keep it a scoreless game. To no one's surprise, Jordan Dumais scored at the 13:21 mark on the power play to get the home team on the board first. Halifax was up 2-0 after the first period despite finding themselves outshot 12-7 in the frame. Rimouski's Louis Robin cut the lead in half early in the second period which started a very jam packed twenty minutes. At the 8:45 mark, Zac Beauregard ran over the Oceanic's goaltender, Patrik Hamrla, which led to an altercation and somehow a five minute match penalty for the 20-year-old. This drew lots of boos and 'ref you suck' chants from the crowd. The fans were loud again minutes later after Halifax killed off the major penalty. The Oceanic then took a penalty and Elliot Desnoyers scored what would end up being the game winner. Halifax was up 4-2 after 40 minutes and received two more goals in the final frame by Mathieu Cataford and Markus Vidicek.
