Herd Word

HISCHIER
The Halifax Mooseheads announced the other day that 2016 Import draft pick Nico Hischier has committed to coming over to North America. The 17 year old will most likely make the team out of camp but won't arrive in Halifax until August 21. This means that Hischier will miss the rookie tournament in Moncton.
“We are extremely pleased and excited to have a player of Nico’s quality join the Mooseheads,” said General Manager Cam Russell. “He’s happy to be coming over to North America and is excited to play for the Mooseheads.”
The Naters, Switzerland native has been called the Swiss Connor McDavid and is projected to be a top prospect in the 2017 NHL draft.

CHAMPIONS FOR CHANGE
A few former Herd players were in the city on Wednesday night for Phoenix House Champions for Change event. Zach Fucale, Jody Shelley, Joe DiPenta and Andrew Bodnarchuk were guests at the new annual event and discussed what has gotten them to be champions at different levels in hockey. The Moose also had some current players in attendance at the kid fun zone.

MEIER
Talking about former captain Timo Meier, it sounds like he impressed the San Jose Sharks brass during development camp a couple weeks ago. He also took over the team's Instagram account during the last day of camp. Below is a photo of Meier before scoring I'm assuming. The 19 year old had 3 goals in the scrimmage.
