Former Halifax Mooseheads player Philippe Gadoury has been named the rookie of the year for the 2015-16 Atlantic University Sport hockey season. The AUS announced the winners for the men's awards this afternoon before the second round of the playoffs begin. Gadoury, a native of Montreal, played a season and a third with the Herd before joining the Dalhousie Tigers this season. The 5 foot 10 forward scored the most goals in the conference with 17, including 5 hat tricks. One of his prettiest ones was an overtime goal in the last game of the year against St. Francis Xavier (see below). His 23 points in 25 games was not enough to help the Tigers get to the playoffs. The 22 year old was also named to the all-rookie team.

Two other former Mooseheads were named to teams as well. Cole Harbour native Stephen MacAulay of the Saint Mary's Huskies was named to the second all-star team while his teammate Austyn Hardie, also a native of Montreal, got named to the all-rookie team with Gadoury.

Congratulations to the three former Moose players and good luck to Hardie & MacAulay in round 2.
