SAINT JOHN SEA DOGS WIN 2022 MEMORIAL CUP!!!



Saint John will look to repeat as Memorial Cup champions but they'll have a difficult time with more than half of the roster from the 2022 championship team moving on. This year the Memorial Cup will be held in Kamloops, home of the Kamloops Blazers who will be in the tournament no matter what. Prospects will look to continue impressing scouts as some will be eligible to be invited to World Junior camps in early December, which will most likely include at least one Halifax Moosehead as the city is co-hosting the tournament.

With all three associations getting back in action come October, I wanted to start these again. This edition will look a little different than other season previews I have done because of the weird circumstances of the previous year. The 2022 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects game possibly may not be played this year but no official announcement has been made.

The Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League were relocated to Manitoba and named the Winnipeg Ice. The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles were renamed the Cape Breton Eagles.

Team changes
The Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League were renamed the North Bay Battalion while the PEI Rocket of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League were renamed the Charlottetown Islanders.

Halifax will look to repeat as Memorial Cup champions probably without their 3 star players. London will be in the national championship tournament for a third straight year come May as they are hosting the 2014 Memorical Cup. The Calgary Hitmen will be hosts to the Top Prospects game. There has been talks that many teams, especially in the QMJHL, will start the season without their European players. This is from a strike that the Canadian Foreign Service is doing.

Team changes
The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey League were renamed the Mississauga Steelheads. The Sherbrooke Phoenix joined the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League as a reincarnation of the Lewiston Maineiacs.

Shawinigan will look to repeat as Memorial Cup champions. This year the Memorial Cup will be held in Saskatoon, home of the Saskatoon Blades who will be in the tournament no matter what. Teams should be as strong as last year, as the NHL is locked out which means that many teams get to keep their 2012 drafted players. This list includes Sarnia (Nail Yakupov), Saint John (Jonathan Huberdeau), Moose Jaw (Morgan Reilly), Halifax (Marty Frk) and Barrie (Mark Scheifele). Prospects will look to continue impressing scouts as some will be eligible to be invited to World Junior camps in early December and hopefully play starting on Boxing Day. The 2013 CHL/NHL Top Prospects game will be held January 16 in Halifax, which will feature 40 of the most impressive prospects for the upcoming draft in June.
Other teams that look to continue their success of last year are Saint John, Halifax, Edmonton, London, Blainville, and Portland. Seth Jones of Portland and Nathan MacKinnon of Halifax will most likely be fighting it out all season to be drafted first overall in this year's entry draft in Newark, New Jersey.
