OT Needed At Rookie Challenge

For a second straight year the Halifax Mooseheads found themselves playing from behind at the Moncton rookie tournament. The Herd began their 2017 pre-season schedule going against the Saint John Sea Dogs on Friday afternoon. Saint John received goals from Ben Reid and Alexandre Lafreniere in the first period and led 2-0 after 20 minutes but Halifax didn't back down in the middle frame. Free agent Patrick Kyte scored at 11:25 of the second period to tie the game at 2 for the Mooseheads. The red and white took a lead in the third and looked to be on it's way to winning it's first game of the weekend tournament however with 40 seconds left in regulation Kevin Mason was able to get the puck past 2017 10th round draft pick Maxime Emery to send the match to overtime. In the extra frame, Halifax's top 2 draft selections in June hooked up with each other for a nice play and defenseman Justin Barron scored the game winner.
