Big Night for Mooseheads Forwards

It was a big night for a few Halifax Mooseheads forwards as the team skated away with a 9-5 win after scoring four goals in the third period. The Mooseheads hosted the Sherbrooke Phoenix on Friday night and got multi goal contests from three different players. Rookies Nico Hischier and Benoit-Olivier Groulx each scored twice in the high scoring game while veteran Connor Moynihan recorded his first career hat trick. The game started off rough for the home team as the Phoenix took a 1-0 on their first shot. Five minutes later the Moose scored on their first shot as well to tie the game with Hischier's 1st of the period, shortly after it looked like Groulx had tied the game but it was waved off for incidental contact with the goalie. The last five minutes of the period were quite entertaining as the away team took a 2-1 lead that last only 14 seconds when Connor Moynihan scored his first of the game. At the 17:52 mark, Nico Hischier tipped one in behind Evan Fitzpatrick and the Phoenix did not like how close he was to their goaltender, resulting in a few roughing penalties. With 0.4 seconds left on the clock, Keigan Goetz scored to give the Herd a 4-3 lead going into the middle frame. The second period saw rookie goalie Alexis Gravel come in to replace Kevin Resop and not as many goals as the game was tied 5-5 after 40 minutes. Groulx, Moynihan and Gravel helped the good guys take control of the game in the final frame. Hischier ended the night with 5 points while 18 year old Maxime Fortier recorded a franchise high 6 assists.
