Streaks Are Over

Well the streaks are over. The Halifax Mooseheads are no longer undefeated on home ice this season after a visit from the 3rd ranked Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, who skated away with a 4-2 victory on Friday night. It was also the annual Pink in the Rink event at the Scotiabank Centre, which the Herd had won the last four years but they had no such luck tonight. There was a lot of back and forth action, mostly in the middle of the rink in the first 7 minutes of the game with both teams only having two shots each. Rouyn-Noranda got on the board first with a goal from Peter Abbandonato 9:17 minutes into the game. Abbandonato was parked right in front of the net and chipped in the behind the net pass. Less than two minutes later, Antoine Waked made it 2-0 Huskies with a shot that Kevin Resop looked like he might've had but it went off his glove and trickled into the net. When the Mooseheads play the Quebec teams, sometimes it's hard to believe that they only play two times a season with all the physical stuff that happens. That was the case tonight, there were quite a few penalties (a couple that probably shouldn't have counted) with Keigan Goetz having to sit in the box 4 times himself. In the third period there were a number of scrums between the two teams.
