Media'Caps: Drakkar 3, Mooseheads 4

My recap: Mooseheads have still not lost in regulation since February 8th.

The Chronicle Herald's recap: The Halifax Mooseheads are halfway there.

Metro Halifax's recap: Konrad Abeltshauser will be a happy man if Saturday night happens to be his last home game as a Halifax Moosehead.

The Canadian Press' recap: Make it 14 in a row for the Halifax Mooseheads.

MACAULAY: Stephen MacAulay scored the first goal of the game less than 12 minutes in to the game. He also recorded a Gordie Howe hat trick.

BANVILLE: I do not know how the Q has not suspended Alec Jon Banville yet. He has been on the score sheet but in the bad part of it. He had 9 minutes of penalties which was tied for a team high but not game high. Alec was kicked out of the game.

FOURNIER: Stefan Fournier scored a his league leading 15th playoff goal while also getting a game high 13 minutes in penalties. He was also shown the door during the game after his fight at 13:29 in the third.

CROWD: It'll be interesting to see how the Mooseheads handle the Baie-Comeau crowd. Before Game 2 the Drakkar posted on their Twitter page that they have the loudest fans; that one fan in BAC equals 4 fans in Halifax when it comes to noise. The last two games have had full houses.

LAST GAME: Was last night's game the last home show of the season? Well we'll have to see if Baie-Comeau can give Halifax their first lost and end the perfect record to send it back here for a Game 5 or if the Mooseheads can become the first team to go undefeated in 16 games.

50/50: Last night's fifty-fifty winner won $30,118

SCORES
Edmonton 0 - 3 Portland    (Series tied 1-1)

NEXT GAME: The series between the Mooseheads and Drakkar will now shift to Baie-Comeau for Game 3 on Tuesday. Puck drops at 8:30pm.

HALIFAX - Mooseheads have still not lost in regulation since February 8th. Halifax got out to a 3-0 lead in a game that had many fights and rough stuff. Baie-Comeau was down 4-1 with three and a half minutes left. To try to tie it up the Drakkar pulled their goalie in the earliest amount of time I have heard. It worked a little bit as they were able to close the gap to one goal. They couldn't tie it but scored with 2 seconds left.

SERIES
Halifax leads the best-of-seven series 1-0

PREVIEW - The Halifax Mooseheads are now only 3 wins away from their first President's Cup.

Halifax just keeps on winning and lead their final series against Baie-Comeau after one game. After almost 40 minutes of a scoreless game, Konrad Abeltshauser scored the first goal of the game and his fifth of the playoffs. In the third however Halifax were able to get their footing back and get pucks past the goaltender with a 3 goal last twenty minutes. What looked like what was going to be the Herd's only second two goal game ended being a four goal game. The Moose got a goal from Ryan Falkenham to make it a 3-0 game with just over 5 minutes left in the period. That was his first ever playoff goal. Stefan Fournier scored his team leading 14th in the empty net with 1:05 left to put the game away while Zach Fucale came up big at times on his way to a 28 save shutout.

Nathan MacKinnon was held off the score sheet for the first time since Game 2 in the series against Saint John. Jonathan Drouin recorded an assist. There was a lot of rough stuff during the first game with 11 roughing penalties and six unsportsmanlike conducts.

Baie-Comeau was able to outshoot Halifax in the first period but by the end of the game they were the ones outshot by a 34-28 margin.

NOT PLAYING - Lovell, Bailey, Alcalde, Lindsay and Lacroix-Courville will probably all be healthy scratches again tonight.

Media'Caps: Drakkar 0, Mooseheads 4

My recap: Zach Fucale was a beast once again as he recorded his third shutout of the playoffs.

The Canadian Press's recap: Zachary Fucale made 28 saves and Stefan Fournier had a goal and two assists as the Halifax Mooseheads defeated the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 4-0 in Game 1 of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final on Friday.

Metro Halifax's recap: They say defence wins championships, and the Halifax Mooseheads proved up to the task in Game 1 of their QMJHL final.

The Chronicle Herald's recap: The Halifax Mooseheads are one step closer to the Memorial Cup.

HalifaxMooseheads.ca's recap: The Moose have jumped out to a 1-0 series lead in the President Cup Finals on the strength of Zach Fucale 28-save shutout Friday night at the Metro Centre.

MISSING IN ACTION: Max Lindsay, Brian Lovell, Liam Alcalde, Brennan Bailey, Jonathan Lacroix-Courville were all healthy scratches.

ABELTSHAUSER: Konrad Abeltshauser scored his first goal of this year's playoffs. It was a very nice in tight goal, nobody was really sure who scored it but it was deemed to be Konrad's. ]

FUCALE: Zach became the second Moose player to receive the fur coat for the second time as he kept it from the last round. Fucale made 28 saves many of them very nice ones. He had a Patrick Roy moment:

FALKENHAM: Ryan Falkenham scored his first playoff goal in his career last night.

SOLD OUT: Last night's game was only the second sellout of this years playoffs. With tonight's sellout, the Mooseheads are averaging 10,091 fans per home game.

SCOUTS: There were many scouts at the game last night, with about 20 to 30 scouts from different teams.

ROUGHING: There was plenty of rough stuff last night. The Drakkar kept up with the rough stuff from their previous series and tried to get the Herd to fight with them but Halifax hardly responded as much as Baie-Comeau wanted them to.

50/50: Last night's fifty-fifty winner won $27,701 a new team record

SCORES

RECAP: Good Start.

Drakkar keep big guns off goal sheet
Halifax Mooseheads vs Baie-Comeau Drakkar
Series: HAL leads 1-0
STARS: 3. Falkenham (HAL) | 2. Lewis (HAL) | 1. Fucale (HAL)
Attendance: 10,595

HALIFAX - Zach Fucale was a beast once again as he recorded his third shutout of the playoffs. Just like in Game 4 of the Drakkar/Armada series, Baie-Comeau seemed to not like losing at all. There was a dust up in the second period and than a few more at the last couple of minutes of the game. Jonathan Drouin hit a Drakkar player who got up and than Drouin hit the same player again into the boards. The player stayed laying on the ice for a few minutes while another Baie-Comeau player jumped Drouin and a fight ensued. Big Jo was lucky enough not to get anything for it. It looked like it was going to be a very low scoring game with neither team being able to put a puck past the goaltenders in the first 43 minutes and 40 seconds. Konrad Abeltshauser scored the only goal in the 2nd period.

FINAL: Baie-Comeau 0 at Halifax 4

UPDATE on PEI

Nine days after the season ended for the PEI Rocket with a 4-3 triple overtime loss in Game 6 of their first round series, the owners of the island team announced that they had a deal in place from a group who would like to buy the team. This prevented the QMJHL from buying the team and move them to Sorel, Quebec. Instead the Rocket are staying on the island. It was announced earlier in the season that the team would be called the PEI Islanders next season.

A report has announced that the team will be called the Charlottetown Islanders for the 2013-14 season. Thank goodness they decided to change the PEI part it didn't really make sense.

Keep checking back for more updates on the team.

SERIES
This is the first game of the best-of-seven series.

PREVIEW - Nathan MacKinnon will face the team that drafted him in the final part of his team's quest to win the QMJHL playoff title.

In 2011, the Baie-Comeau Drakkar had the first overall pick in the Q draft and drafted MacKinnon at #1. He wasn't interested in playing in the Quebec city so five weeks later the Drakkar traded him to Halifax. He will face Baie-Comeau for only the 6th time since being drafted but this time around the games will be more important and tougher. The top two teams in the Quebec league will face off for the all important President's Cup and for a berth in the Memorial Cup tournament.

Halifax finished first 23 points ahead of the Drakkar with a 58-6-3-1 record. Baie-Comeau finished second in the league with a 44-19-2-3 record.

Baie-Comeau will be underdogs as they come in being outscored 9-3 in 2 season matchups against Halifax.
