Game Day 1: at Cape Breton

PREVIEW - Your Halifax Mooseheads will be kicking off the 2026-27 regular season this evening when they head to Nova Scotia's island to visit the Cape Breton Eagles in their home opener. Many suspect that Cape Breton will be near the very top of the league after 64 games but that is to be seen, however they were ranked as the 2nd best team in the CHL on Wednesday. The Eagles are celebrating their 30th season and I'm sure they are hoping that it will end better than how the Mooseheads' anniversary year finished. On the other side, Halifax is also predicted to be a competitive team over the next 6 months so this should be a very interesting match in Sydney tonight. The Herd will be without a few players this weekend as three guys are at NHL camps (Nobert, Carrier & Kulebiakin) and Will Bent is on the injured list recovering from shoulder surgery. I believe the Eagles are also without some players who are participating in NHL camps. Get excited Moose Country, the pre-season is over and the drive for the playoffs begins now.
