Moose Kick Off Homestand with W

Photo - Trevor MacMillan (Huskies website)

The Halifax Mooseheads kicked off their six game home-stand with their first regulation win of the season, defeating the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 6-2 on Thursday night. Halifax controlled the play early, outshooting Rouyn-Noranda 19-10 after the first period, but it was the visiting Huskies who scored the opening goal at the 4:34 mark. Paul Sintschnig would tie the game up just over 2 minutes into the middle frame and the two teams would go into the second intermission with the home Mooseheads up 3-1. I'm not sure what led to this but the way the players were going at each other after a number of the whistles, you wouldn't know that this was the first meeting of 2026-27 between the two clubs. The game also had a couple of odd calls, like a face-off infraction penalty by Nathan Langlois, and some pretty nice saves. Veteran Shawn Carrier picked up his second of the game to give the Herd some insurance while Eddy Doyle shot it in to the empty net with under 3 minutes to go to clinch the victory.
